Shannon Hughes

Shannon is a graduate student in the Behavioral and Community Health Sciences program at the Graduate School of Public Health. She is interested in language in motivation, academic engagement and investigating the socio-cultural determinants of maternal and adolescent health. During her undergraduate career at the University of Rochester, she worked as a research assistant on various projects and completed a thesis investigating the effects of moderating and mediating factors on the relationship between perfectionistic self-promotion and self-disclosure experiences. She hopes to build on past experiences by exploring interventions and new methods of evaluation that aim to promote positive health outcomes in underserved communities.
In her free time, she loves seeing live music, running outdoors, practicing yoga, traveling to new places, and spending quality time with family and friends!
